Guest Performer: Fernando Gualda (oboe)

Fernando Gualda, born in Rio de Janeiro, studied music performance and conducted research in sonic arts in Germany, USA and the UK. Since 2010 he has been working as a tenured faculty member at UFRGS, where he teaches the oboe, coaches chamber music, teaches music theory, and currently holds the office of head of the music department. His research aims to develop new technologies for music teaching and learning by cognitive modeling of listening along with computational modeling of music performance. He believes art and science should be seen as a continuum and that this perspective could better foster creativity.
